ERASMUS+ MedCaravan Project Successfully Concludes, Paving the Way for Agroecological Education in the Mediterranean

[Caen- Milan, 29th September 2023] – The ERASMUS+ MedCaravan project, a collaborative effort between partners from Turkey, Italy, Portugal, Serbia, Croatia, France, and organized from 2020 to 2023, is proud to announce the successful conclusion of its mission to promote agroecological education in the Mediterranean region. This transformative project has yielded remarkable outcomes, including the development of educational materials in seven languages and the establishment of an innovative online platform for knowledge sharing.

In a region facing pressing challenges such as climate change, water scarcity, food insecurity, and migration, the MedCaravan project has emerged as a beacon of hope and a valuable resource for communities, farmers, and individuals committed to embracing agroecological practices.

Key project highlights:

  1. Multilingual Educational Resources: The MedCaravan project has created a wealth of educational materials focused on agroecology, making these resources accessible in Arabic, Croatian, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, Serbian and Turkish. This commitment to linguistic diversity ensures that a broad audience can benefit from the project’s resources.
  2. Online Knowledge Sharing Platform: The project’s online platform, available at https://hub.urgenci.net/medcaravan/, stands as a central hub for a rich collection of informative content. The platform hosts videos, podcasts, articles, and interactive forums, providing a dynamic space for farmers, researchers, members of the food communities, and agroecology enthusiasts to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and build a sense of community.
  3. Capacity Building: The project has actively worked to enhance the capacity of individuals and organizations to collect agroecological knowledge. Through workshops, training sessions, and collaborative initiatives, MedCaravan has empowered actors to make informed decisions and lead positive change in their communities.
  4. Cultural Exchange and Solidarity: MedCaravan’s commitment to fostering cross-cultural exchange and solidarity has been a driving force behind its success. The project has united diverse communities, transcending borders and language barriers to promote a shared vision of agroecological rural communities in the Mediterranean.
