In 2019, the role of our Urgenci Community Supported Agriculture network will be key. Our collective efforts to build greater social, environmental and economic justice – with an obvious focus on food justice – means that every project, every collective action must clearly aim to create genuinely sustainable local food systems.
At a time when the CSA movement globally is working to gain greater recognition by policy makers, it comes a jaw-dropping and agreeable surprise to discover the extent to which CSA in China has gained legal status and is perceived as a genuine part of the way forward by all three levels of government in China (local, provincial and national).

The United Nations High Level Political Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals was established in 2012 to further the implementation of the SDGs and the 2030 Agenda. Urgenci was represented during the last session in July 2018, in New York.
As part of the biannual Civil Society consultation in Asia Pacific, Urgenci representatives and other Civil Society Organizations were warmly hosted by the Pacific Island Farmers Organization Network (PIFON) in Nadi, Fiji.
The IPC holds a General Meeting every 2 years. This one took place in Paarl, about 50 km from Cape Town. It was organized by WFFP, the World Forum of Fisher People.
